The CEO of Novartis is currently in Argentina as part of a Latin American tours that started in Mexico and will wrap up in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
There’s a star visitor in Argentina this week – the CEO is Swiss drugmaker Novartis, Vasant Narasimhan, who is in the country as part of a tour of the region that began in Mexico and will move on to Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Narasimhan, who was born in New Jersey, USA, to Indian parents is known as a charismatic doctor who studied at Harvard Medical School and joined Novartis in 2005. He became CEO in January 2018 at the age of 41, becoming the youngest head of a major pharma multinational. See article on Bloomberg
With his charismatic style and direct way of communicating, the doctor CEO is one of the youngest leaders of a major pharma multinational and is marking a change of eras at Novartis.
Known for his casual and direct approach, Narasimhan has set about a culture change at Novartis. Bloomberg revealed in a profile piece on the executive that he rejected his predecessor’s private office in exchange for a chair in the middle of a bustling open office space.
Last year, Paul Hudson, CEO of Novartis’s pharmaceuticals division visited Argentina and Mexico and held a meeting with Argentina’s president Mauricio Macri.
The Argentina office of Novartis recently named two new leaders – French woman Sarah Bonhomme as head of pharma and the Mexican Monique Clua as head of oncology. Both take up the reins in March.
